The farm is great for developing vocabulary – names of animals, their sounds and activities (“the sheep is running”, “the rooster is crowing”). During play, children can practise short sentences, understanding prepositions (“in the barn”, “in the meadow”, “under the roof”) and simple dialogues between the characters. Try asking: “Where shall we put the duck? What is the donkey doing?” – this encourages spontaneous speech and the creation of their own stories.
