The DUO PUZZLE series for the youngest children is also among our favourites. This time, we’d like to show you how we use the OPPOSITES puzzle. A brilliant game for developing fine motor skills, spatial awareness and concentration, which you can introduce to children as young as two. And it works just as well with older children. The cheerful, colourful pictures will not only entertain the children, but they’ll soon grow to love them too.

We name the animal in the picture and imitate the sounds it makes, using the correct mouth position. We develop gross motor skills as we try to demonstrate how the animal moves.

We describe the picture on the card with the child and look for an adjective to describe what kind of animal is in the picture and what its opposite might be. We encourage the child to find the most suitable picture among the others and to name the difference on the cards once more (e.g. “What is the opposite of a little dog, or perhaps a sleeping cat?”).

We encourage thinking – for example, “What might have happened to the dog to make him dirty? And what could we do to make sure he isn’t dirty anymore?” We also ask if the child remembers whether this has ever happened to them and how they sorted it out.
