The Delicate Ballerina musical jewellery box is a beautiful place to keep first treasures, jewellery and a child’s secrets. When you turn the handle and open the lid, a delicately carved ballerina appears, spinning in front of a shaped mirror to the tune of ‘Invitation to the Dance’ by Carl Maria von Weber. Inside, there is soft velvet and a handy drawer to hide away all the little bits and bobs.

Musical jewellery boxes are great for developing storytelling and descriptive skills. Ask: “How does the ballerina dance? What can you see in the mirror? What is the melody like?” — the child practises vocabulary, sentence structure and the ability to describe a scene. The melody can also be used for rhythm exercises: tap along to the beat together or repeat simple words or syllables in time with the music.
