Observation games are excellent for developing attention and vocabulary. Children can name the pictures (“I see a tree, I see a cat”) and form sentences whilst looking for the odd one out (“There’s something different here”). Parents can enhance the game with questions such as: “Why doesn’t this picture belong here?” – thereby encouraging precise description, categorisation and the development of sentence structure.
