Spooky Boo is a thrilling game in which little monsters have taken over the house and players must get rid of them as quickly as possible. The aim is to strategically swap cards and reduce your total to five or fewer. After five rounds, the player with the fewest points wins. The game develops vocabulary and expression – children describe the little monsters and the magical house (“that one has wings”, “this is a ghost”), learning to accurately name characteristics and categorise. It also practises the ability to explain strategies and decisions (“I’ll swap this card because…”). Parents can ask questions whilst playing: “What does that monster look like?” or “Where does it live?” – thereby supporting the development of sentence structure and imaginative storytelling.
