Once upon a time, violinists, guitarists, pianists and other musicians would meet up, looking for bandmates. This memory game is based on flipping cards and forming musical groups – the aim is to put together as many complete bands as possible without making a single mistake. Children name instruments and people (“violinist”, “guitarist”) and learn to sort them into groups, which strengthens categorisation and sentence structure. I recommend commenting aloud on your moves during the game (“I’m turning the drum… looking for the piano”) or asking: “Who belongs in this band?” – this develops expression and logical thinking.
